ROMANCE IN A MINOR


In this piece, composed in 1981, I have used a minor scale with the fourth altered degree click for know more on musical scales. The interval of augmented second that takes shape, additionally to that already present in the harmonic minor scale, is enough characteristic. Also the central part and the coda, that use the lydian click for know more on musical scales mode, has the altered quarter.
You can notice the sad character of the theme, that becomes instead more and more dramatic in the reprise, unusually, just with the passage from the minor mode to the major one (or better, to that mixture among major and lydian mode that is borderin on bitonality click for know more on bitonality).
